Question on Single Turbo Tuning

Alright, so I think some other guys running or soon running single turbos probably have some of the same questions, or maybe not and I'm just a n00b on their own but....

I'm trying to figure out what I should be looking for when first getting the car up and running as far as tuning.

I will be using the JB4 in conjunction with BB Flash.

I'm not real clear on what the purpose of the backend flash is. From my understanding it is where you set your AFR, timing, fuel trims, eliminates speed limiter, and not sure what else.

Well, when I posed this question to Terry asking which controls which his response was, "the JB4 controls everything" so that makes me wonder why there is a backend at all, but obviously for a reason.


So during tuning, what should I be adjusting and in which tuner should I be using the adjustment for timing, AFR, boost control, trims, etc... My first thought is whatever is available in the easy access menu of the JB4 to start there, and whatever isn't available would be done on the flash end. Is this the correct way of thinking?

Trying to familiarize myself best as possible so that when the car is done and ready I can hopefully have a decent tune done in a single day session on the dyno/street.
